Welcome to the Department of Physiology


Department Description

This department is responsible for the research, teaching and assessment in the biomedical area of Physiology. The department is part of the Basic sciences Division of the School of Medicine. The department is involved in the teaching of the medical curriculum, but students are welcome to join in the teaching at any time if they do not wish to follow the recommended pathway.

Physiology is a branch of science that deals with the functioning of living organisms. Physiologists study cells, tissues, organs, and the whole body in an attempt to understand how organisms function. The Department of Physiology is a content development project for Wikiversity. Participants collaborate to develop learning resources for physiology.

Students are invited to take a look at the Human Physiology Wikibook, the Medical Physiology Wikibook, the Physiology articles on Wikipedia, including w: Human physiology and other more specific subject divisions.
