The programs of this department focus on exploring the history of all countries in North America, in addition to their impact on the world around us. We invite all who wish to learn about North America to enroll in our courses and participate in discussions. If this interests you, please consider teaching a course or mentoring students. This page has been designed to contain relevant information about the department. Feel free to update any section if it is outdated.

  • October 7, 2008 - Department of Canadian History is merged into Department of American History!
  • October 15, 2008 - Department renamed to Department of North American History
Degree Program

Wikiversity does not offer degree programs, but this list gives students an idea of what might be required to earn a college degree.

Minor

Normally most institutions do not offer undergraduate degrees in American History. This course sequence would be for a Minor in American History.

United States

A short 1831 essay, very approachable, by John James Audubon
An 81-page, 1997 book by the Air Force History and Museums Program. In addition to the military-specific narrative it provides a good overview of the (declared, overt) wars the United States was involved in during the 20th century.
