From Wikiversity
Audio icon You can learn here about editing an audio recording or audio part of a video recording

Voice of a person in an audio/video should be loud and clear. Any background music added during editing should have be less loud.

This tutorial can help edit and clean voice in an audio recording or audio of a video recording.
Steps:

We recommend Audacity for editing audio. It is a free software and works for computers with Microsoft Windows, Linux and MacOS.

  1. Download Audacity from https://www.audacityteam.org/download/ and install in your computer.
  2. Open after installation
  3. You will see a list of tools on the top of the window. If your language option is English, open "File" >> "Import" and select the location of the audio or video file.
  4. Go to "Effects" >> "Compressor". Click on "Ok". The loudness of the audio will be adjusted to a medium level.
  5. Go to "Effects" >> "Normalize". Click on "Ok". The loudness will be even.
  6. Now Go to "Effects" >> "Noise reduction". Click on "Ok". Some background noise will be removed. Play once. If you are not happy, undo (Ctrl Z in Windows/Linux and ⌘ Cmd Z in MacOS). You can repeat the process ("Effects" >> "Noise reduction"). This time move the adjust bar to the left or right. Listen again. Once you are happy, you can go to the next step.
  7. To save the edited audio, go to "File" >> "Export Audio". A format like ".wav" is recommended. Formats like ".mp3" are not of high quality.
