Earth[edit | edit source]

The primordial Earth formed around four and a half billion years ago.

Humans[edit | edit source]

Our ancestors appeared between eight and five million years ago in Gondwana, a supercontinent which eventually split into the two continents of South America and Africa. Our human ancestors were known as Australopithecines. Archaeological discoveries in Olduvai Gorge in Tanzania, East Africa suggest that the earliest humans existed around that part of the world as early as eight million years ago.
