Auction and Bidding are mechanisms used in board game design. The player have the opportunity to bid for items, usually with money. This can be done in a number of ways:
- Japanese auction Players take it in turns to bid for the item. Once a player pass on a bid, they may not re-enter the auction. Example: Power Grid
- First-price sealed-bid auction Players decide what their bid is to be and then all reveal simultaneously. Example: AufRUHR!
