English-Chinese/Word segmentation of Hanzi
In history, classical Chinese has no punctuation marks. The reader needs to pay extra effort to focus on the segmentation, and a slight difference can cause misunderstanding. The so-called slightest difference leads to a huge loss. The introduction of punctuation marks was a major text reform, making the reading efficiency of Chinese texts a great improvement. However, the reform of Chinese language has only just begun, and it is far from reaching the level of perfection. At least there is still an obvious obstruction in reading efficiency - word segmentation (word grouping of Chinese characters).
