Counterpoint/Individual voices

As mentioned, counterpoint(so far) consists of two voices; the cantus firmus and the counterpoint itself. Before we learn how to intertwine two melodies, we need to learn the rules of how each line should go and what the rules are for each individual one. Note that these rules do not necessarily withstand after we are done with 5th-species counterpoint, especially when we will cover free counterpoint in which there are some direct exceptions. In this unit, we will discuss some of the rules that is in the singular lines.
