Wikiversity:License tags

From Wikiversity

Jump to: navigation, search

The templates listed on this page should be used to indicate the kind of license under which media files uploaded to Wikiversity are published. In general, media files published under a free license should be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons. Files may be published under multiple licenses.

All images should have a template indicating how it is licensed. This is required by Foundation policy, and is simply good practice. Re-users of Wikiversity content expect that it will be freely-reusable. Some media, however, has certain restrictions in the licensing (for example the share-alike clause of certain Creative Commons licenses) which the re-user must be able to easily determine. License templates categorize media so they it can easily be determined what is reusable under what conditions.

[edit] How to add a license template

If you did not add the template at the time of upload, you must edit the image description page. Do not re-upload the image; you will not be able to update the licensing or source information that way. Instead, click the edit this page tab at the top of the page, and add in the template like this: {{Templatename}}. Be careful to note the case of template names; only the first letter is case-insensitive.

Wikimedia Commons
Please note
It is strongly recommended that you upload free content to Wikimedia Commons. Files hosted at Commons are accessible by all Wikimedia projects. An introduction to Commons can be found at Commons:Welcome.

{{subst: ==Image copyright problem with Image==

Thanks for uploading Image. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikiversity because of copyright law (see Wikiversity' Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikiversity are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikiversity:License tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information or giving false information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me on my talk page or the Wikiversity community at the Colloquium. Thank you.
