Moved previous version to draft space[edit source]
It is WV policy not to allow copies of Wikipedia articles in drafts space. I think authors should be allowed to copy a Wikipedia page, but only if the intent make it suitable for Wikiversity. Draft space is a good place to do those edits. I will now write something on Pi, but if anybody knows a "develop this page" template, go ahead and replace what I have on the current version of Pi. - My sense is that you are being too kind: the editor who copied the Wikipedia Pi page to Wikiversity in 2021 had enough time to work on it, but they copied the page and then left it alone. You moved that page to the editor's user space, which alone was very kind to the editor.
- Your moving the page to Draft space is okay, but it only delay that which is very likely to happen anyway, a deletion with more bureaucratic delay or move to user space. --Dan Polansky (discuss • contribs) 13:32, 30 December 2023 (UTC)
- I think we are talking about two editors:
- Wikipedia:User:Chatul moved a Wikipedia page to Wikiversity in July 2021, and promptly abandoned the project. That page (Special:Permalink/2296746) should have been deleted, not "rescued" by me.
- Then, last summer (July 2023 ) User:Bocardodarapti added two subpages, apparently in an effort to develop a teaching resource. Thinking Chatul's wrote them, I moved the pages into Chatul's userspace. Bocardodarapti objected to moving those two pages and said he (Bocardodarapti) is creating a learning resource. I am OK with doing any of the following with Pi/Real cosine function/Definition and Pi/Zero of cosine/Introduction/Section:
- Keeping them where they are
- Moving them into Bocardodarapti' subspace
- Moving them into draftspace
- Deleting them
- The choice is for Bocardodarapti, you, and the rest of the "deletion community" to make. If you and Bocardodarapti can't agree, it goes to Wikiversity:Requests for Deletion.Guy vandegrift (discuss • contribs) 14:07, 30 December 2023 (UTC)

Please do not delete Pi unless transclusions subpages become irrelevant[edit source]
We need to keep Pi so that future editors don't delete the subpage. It's just bad policy to allow needed transclusions to be deleted. I know, because I went through a great deal of trouble with this page, EVEN THOUGH THE INSPECTION OF THE HISTORY PAGE WOULD HAVE PREVENTED MY MISTAKE. In other words, I was not the first person to delete or move these transclusions. It does no harm to have Pi as a stub if it prevents someone in the future making the same mistake. In the past Wikiversity routinely created stub pages. Stubs have informally become deprecated on WV, but this needs to be an exception.--Guy vandegrift (discuss • contribs) 09:28, 7 March 2024 (UTC)
