Comments[edit source]

Hi,

I've come across this study that i think will be great for those of us doing exercise motivation. I've only read the summary but the general idea should be applicable.

Have a look.

Hey! Well done on getting started. I don't want to comment too much because it looks like you're still in the foundation stages :) Just a thought about your overview - it might flow a bit better if it was just one paragraph with an introduction to the topic rather than dot points? Just an idea. The two paragraphs after that flow beautifully :) Good luck! --Sgerstenberg (discusscontribs) 09:52, 17 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Heading casing[edit source]

FYI, the convention on Wikiversity is for lower-cased headings. For example, use:

==Cats and dogs==

rather than

==Cats and Dogs==

Overall[edit source]

  1. Overall, this is a solid chapter which could be improved by abbreviating some of the background material about ER and focusing more on integrating discussion of theory and research about the role of motivation in ER.
  2. For more feedback see these copyedits and the comments below.

Theory[edit source]

  1. Theory is well covered but could be more closely integrated with research.
  2. Inclusion of case studies or examples could be helpful.

Research[edit source]

  1. Research about the benefits of ER is well covered, but could be abbreviated to allow greater concentration on research related to motivation for ER engagement.
  2. When describing important research studies, provide some indication of the nature of the sample and possibly cultural context.
  3. When discussing important research findings, indicate the size of effects in addition to whether or not there was an effect or relationship.
  4. Several very useful/relevant research studies are described. They tend to be described one after the other. To improve the review of research, look for patterns and themes and try to synthesise the findings in order to convey a greater depth of understanding.

Written expression[edit source]

  1. Expand the Overview.
  2. Avoid sections with only one sub-section. A section should have no sub-sections or at least two sub-sections.
  3. Avoid one sentence paragraphs. A paragraph should typically consist of three to five sentences.
  4. Add wiki bullet-points to convert word processing bullet points.
  5. Add bullet-points for See also and External links
  6. Layout
    1. See earlier comments about heading casing
    2. Use default heading styles; remove bold
    3. The chapter is well-structured.
    1. Tables and/or Figures are used effectively.
    2. (Excessive use of) coloured boxes was removed so as to aid accessibility/readability; strive for simple layout (e.g., as per Wikipedia articles)
    3. Reduce (excessive) use of coloured boxes was removed so as to aid accessibility/readability; strive for simple layout (e.g., as per Wikipedia articles)
    4. Some images are used, but the chapter could be improved by adding more images.
    5. Figure captions should be more explanatory.
    6. Add wiki bullet points (some items are pasted from a word processor without applying the wiki bullet points).
  1. Learning features
    1. Interwiki links could be added (e.g., to relevant Wikipedia articles and other Wikiversity book chapters) to make the text more interactive.
    2. Quiz questions are used effectively to encourage reader engagement.
    3. Quiz questions could be used to encourage reader engagement.
  2. Spelling, grammar, and proofreading are excellent.
  3. APA style
    1. Check how to do in-text citations for six or more authors.
    2. Add APA style captions to tables and figures.
    3. The APA style for the reference list is very good; remove issue numbers for seriated journals.
