I just wanted to say a big thank you for the wonderful workshop on Friday. I found the content really interesting and look forward to being able to apply what we discussed to the subject I am teaching.

Defining Blended Learning[edit source]
It was raised that a working definition of Blended Learning may be useful. Blended Learning is the title used centrally at La Trobe University, in their "Future Ready" planning. We've chosen to use Blended Learning to be consistent with that. So here's a first attempt at a definition:
- Blended Learning is a term frequently used by educational organisations, to bring together the often polarised ideas of online vs face to face teaching and learning. The term seeks to identify and combine the best methods from each, into a hybrid approach to teaching and learning practices.
- Beyond this simplification however, are a diverse range of methods and practices. At this level, blended learning can become a sophisticated and contemporary approach to teaching and learning, seamlessly moving across methods of flexible learning, networked learning, distributed learning, and web integrated learning.
But that's a bit academic. Here's a video on Youtube to help bring it home. That same video on Archive.org.
We'll gather up some concrete directions from La Trobe to base on, and this BLOT conference is gathering examples.
