(There is no formal governing structure as this is written; there are ad-hoc procedures, followed erratically, but, as with most activity on Wikimedia Foundation wikis, nearly all decisions are made by individuals with the editing rights they possess, and there is no set, reliable dispute resolution process. Exceptions do exist, such as the Arbitration Committee on Wikipedia. The Arbitration Committee is appointed by Jimbo Wales, or by the authority of the WMF, formally, but following, in his judgment, the advice of the community as expressed in periodic AC elections. Overall governance of the WMF family of wikis exists in theory through the WMF board, which is self-elected, pursuant to its own bylaws (which it sets unilaterally), and which also generally follows community elections, which have been held using various election methods.)
