Web Translation Projects/Approaches to Translating Dialect/Transliteration
Transliteration involves incomplete intralingual and interlingual translations of the SL text. The elements excluded from translation are foreign lexical elements, which are additionally transliterated - spelt in TL graphological form. In terms of the amount of the retained dialect markers (which is indicative of how neutralising a strategy is), translation scores similarly to lexicalisation. The intended social deixis is similar to the one in the previous strategy, though the spelling of the foreign element using TL spelling conventions points implicitly to the mutual recognisability of the speaker's culture and the TL culture[1].
