From an introductory philosophy course, Plato asks if our senses and thoughts reveal reality or just a shadow of reality. The Urantia Book repeatedly refers to our material senses and teaches us how to hone our spiritual senses. Various passages assert that finite, material reality is like a shadow of infinite, spiritual reality. By choosing to uphold spiritual values, the Urantia Book teaches that our minds, in liaison with the inner, spiritual fragment of the Eternal Father, gives birth to our infant soul that has the potential to live on in eternity. This soul is our inheritance in the afterlife.
