    • Describe negative and positive feedback mechanisms.
    • Explain the importance of homeostatic mechanisms.
    • Explain the significance of homeostatic imbalance.


  • Sub Objectives- The objectives will require that students be able to:
    • Define homeostasis.
    • Identify normal ranges in the body.
    • Identify causes of imbalance.
    • Describe hormone function.
    • Correlate homeostasis to endocrine function.


  • Difficulties- Students may have difficulty:
    • Describing the relationship between endocrine function and feedback systems.
    • Determining the interaction between endocrine function and the nervous system.
    • Identifying endocrine control by and on nonendocrine organs.
    • Tracing secondary signaling mechanisms.

    • Treatment and complications of endocrine disorders such as diabetes.
