The state's largest city, Detroit, is located in the Southeast part of the state while the capital, Lansing, is located in Central Michigan.

Michigan is divided into several regions, with the Southeast region accounting for over half of the states population. A large portion of the state's population lives in Metro Detroit.

Industry[edit | edit source]

Automotive[edit | edit source]

The headquarters to the automakers Chrysler, Ford Motors, and General Motors are located in the Detroit metropolitan area.

After 2008, the automotive industry in Michigan was faltering, but it may be rebounding as of 2011.
