Assistant teacher training as a subject

[edit | edit source]

Assistant teacher training as a subject allows to allocate a school lesson during which assistant teachers can either help to train their own class or assist in other classes. The time slot of the lesson is conveniently available to allow the qualified assistant teachers to help in other classes while the unqualified pupils receive tuition in pedagogy, psychology and other assistant teacher topics.

Assistant teachers could receive advanced tuition during a voluntary lesson at the end of the school day, in a time slot that didn't require assistant teachers in lesser grades. The voluntary nature of the lesson would allow to measure commitment and discipline: An assistant teacher would not be forced to participate but might receive significantly worse grades for social behavior if he failed to participate. Continued absence could also, at a committee's discretion, increase the probability of disqualification.
