Common misconceptions about Wikipedia[edit source]

Comments on the quiz[edit source]

I think the quiz is a good idea, and has been implemented very well, especially with the automagic marking of responses. I've a couple minor queries regarding the answers to the questions.

  • The culinary recipe answer is possibly somewhat misleading. In practice the article would be kept or deleted on the basis of whether the culinary dish was notable. In other words, whether there was significant coverage in reliable sources independent of the subject. If the subject was notable, a rewrite would be expected, but I doubt that deletion of the article would happen in practice.
  • The current price comparisons of products existing on the market today information wouldn't appear in a single article, but the information could be moved to the individual product articles. See for example Wikipedia:F-22 Raptor and Wikipedia:Eurofighter Typhoon.

For the top half of the quiz, there were five choices at the top, but under them were five circles on the left, and five purple squares on the right. Neither the circles nor the squares lined up with the choices at the top. So it took me a long time to guess whether I should check the circles, the squares, both, or neither.

Also, when I got halfway down the page there was a "submit" button. So I clicked it, expecting the bottom half of the page to be separate. Instead, it marked me wrong for not answering any of the questions on the bottom half. Art LaPella 01:32, 19 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
