Where do users post assignments?

[edit source]

I'm curious about how assignments are "graded" on Wikiversity. Where do assignments get posted? How are they graded (i.e. does everyone get to get a grade, and it is averaged, or...)? --James Tharpe 19:51, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

You have to be more specific. Wikiversity is experimenting with many types of learning activities for participants. What "assignments" are you interested in? --JWSchmidt 20:27, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Any and all! :-) I've had a lot of experience with algorithms so I thought I might review the responses (if any) to the assignments on this page (Introductory algorithm challenges). I found no responses but, more importantly, I found no instructions for what to do with the assignment once it has been completed. Additionally, there are no instructions for what do to with completed assignments that are posted (e.g. grade them). Is there a guide for this?

As far as I know you are entering uncharted waters here. The only thing I have seen so far for evaluation of answers is short answer quizzes with hidden answers until someone clicks for the answer. You might check with User:Robert_Elliott to see what has been working for his film related classes such as storyboarding and script writing. Mirwin 16:06, 31 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Post your answers here and someone might evaluate them?--Rayc 21:01, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
I'm just using these resources as part of a formal course - so, for example, I actually use these Intro Algorithm challenges as a classroom activity where we work in small groups. Posting the answers here would make it too easy to see before thinking yourself. I have tried using progressive hints in the past that are hidden until the user clicks to see the hint, but I can't find where I used them! I reckon progressive hints would be great for individuals. If there was some sort of "class" on wikiversity - I'd think an email group or even a separate wikiversity page for the class where they can organise and contribute their answers might be a goer? MichaelNelson, I put a subpage in with my algorythm at your first design challenge. Feel free to delete it or move it to a page of student's responses; if you do not want your first time students stunting their growth by peeking instead of trying. I am going to check the history file, someone did a great job putting these eight challenges together for new computer students. Mirwin 12:17, 12 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
Glad you like them Mirwin :) I was trying to fill a need as most intro to programming type tutorials say they are "for the absolute beginner", but the way they are structured only really makes sense to a programmer. Had a look at your answer! Will post some comments there :)
