[edit source]Your CBI posting on Molecular Structure for CHEM 1301 is very good. I have some comments below that you might consider to make the posting more complete or more helpful.
Course Objectives: Understanding various geometries might read better, Recognizing various geometries.
Sub Objectives: Draw Lewis structures and use the structures to determine electron domain geometries about a central atom.
Difficulties: maybe add recognizing shapes
Important to Do and Know: A knowledge of the Periodic Table and of the number of valence electrons that must be used for each element would be helpful. Also, students knowing the Rule of 8/Rule of 2 (for hydrogen) would be fundamental.
Summative Assessment: 1) Writing correct Lewis dot diagrams for molecules or ions. 2) Predict structures from Lewis dot diagram provided. 3) Draw Lewis dot diagram for a given molecule or ion and from the diagram, predict the structure of the molecule/ion using the VSEPR table.
