Comments on first draft[edit source]

  • I am wondering if having images from the text is appropriate? If anything, I think the image of the title page from Duncan's book can be taken out. Some places to start for reading up on this issue and deciding a way forward: Wikiversity:Uploading_files#Copyright_status and Wikiversity:Copyrights.
  • Glad to see you making connections at the bottom! Consider linking to The_Ancient_World_(HUM_124_-_UNC_Asheville)/Connections_between_Ancient_Texts and maybe adding some discussion there?
  • I like the discussion under "Oral Tradition." I wonder if a different title for that section would work? Could you discuss what you think the story looked like before it was published? Can you say anything about what the editor of the book had in mind about this, based on the way the story is presented?
  • You should look at the other Cherokee myth we read, "How the World Was Made"...there's actually the beginning of a page for it, here. Look up James Mooney the anthropologist, and Swimmer the Cherokee elder, who were behind that version. Compare the content of the two stories, and also compare how they were published. Lots of good directions to go in here!
