Thank you for making this and for putting your thoughts down!

Organizing the page

I went ahead and changed the headings of the page a bit....use them to organize the information, but keep the details in the text itself. I also changed your headings to match the ones built into the wiki editor. It might seem like a minor point, but using the built in ones across the entire wiki will make it easier to organize information. Here's a nice write up about them on Wikiversity. Using these headings also builds an automatic table of contents at the beginning of the page, which is helpful when they get longer.

Content questions/comments

These are just some suggested directions!

  • I'm interested to hear what you mean by "accident stories"! Are you detecting a certain type of creation story? Are you trying to name a type of creation story where an original world is somehow changed by something going wrong?
  • You could add a quote or two to each text you discuss, to illustrate the points you are making
  • In the "summary" part of each text, focus on the role of water and animals, and take a few more sentences to explain exactly what each story says about those topics. You don't need to give a summary of the entire text...ideally, that will happen on the main page for each text! (You could add a link under each...)
  • You talk about Christian perspectives in your discussion of the Cherokee story. You should look up and describe some traditional Cherokee beliefs about animals! One place to start could be the reference books in the library on the main floor. There is a Native American Encyclopedia under E 76.2 P75 2000, and some more references nearby. You could also do some quick research through the library's website, and online.
  • If you are looking for something to expand on more, I think you could write about about the contemporary relevance of water in Genesis 1-2. You are right that Christians believe in the story today...there are lots of different ways that Christians understand this story (some take it literally, as an accurate description of what really happened; others take it as symbolic, or mythical). I like what you begin to discuss in the section below that...maybe that could be a way for you to flesh this out. What are some contemporary perspectives on animals and on water in Genesis 1-2?

One more point that I think it is an important one...you mentioned for the last section on Why the Sun and Moon are In the Sky that it is a different topic than the rest of the page. Should you create a new page for it? Or is there a way you can reorganize this page to include all of this information? One of the things about wiki editing that I like is that thinking about organization and structure is really helpful to clarify my ideas.
