Talk:Researching with Wikipedia

With regard to your information about Howars Simons, managing editor of the Washington post during watergate, I would like to add that I grew up with him in albany, New York. I was one year older than him and we were in Boy Scout Troop 33 together. I was his patrol leader in 1941 and 1942 in the Woodpecker patrol. We attended Philip schuyler high school together and I graduated one year before him. I was sorry to learn that he passed away in 1989 the year that I retired and moved to Florida. I never would have predicted that he would become an active doer in national politics.

Can Wikipedia be quantifiably tested for accuracy?

So, after a discussion with some collegues about uses of technology in education (and of course the lack of respect for wiki in the academic circles), we raised a question/theory about Wikipedia.

Here is the Hypotheses:

H1: The more contributors to a page, the great the level of reliability of the page.

H2: At some critical point of contribution, the wiki page has to be more reliable than a text book with only one or two authors.

Is there anybody out there that has tested this, or is interested in creating a model with me to test this?
