Since this article is intended for PLOS Computational Biology, I think the computational aspects should be made clearer, though without unnecessarily repeating information already available via related pages like wp:comparative genomics. --Daniel Mietchen (talk) 16:31, 24 November 2015 (PST)

Wikification[edit source]

There are several issues in terms of making this article suitable for the English Wikipedia:

  1. Content
    1. Large parts of the article discuss what is already covered in existing Wikipedia articles, especially wp:devil facial tumor disease and wp:canine transmissible venereal tumor, which are referenced in the intro and under See also.
    2. Referencing is rather sparse — some paragraphs do not have references at all, which is in conflict with wp:Wikipedia:Verifiability.
  2. Media
    1. It is not clear whether Ted Donelan has consented to the photo being published under a CC BY license.
    2. For posting the article to Wikipedia, we will need the non-photographic files in SVG format.
  3. Formatting
    1. A number of links to existing articles are missing (e.g. wp:Single-nucleotide polymorphism).
    2. Terms like "major histocompatibility complex (MHC)" should be defined and linked on the first occurrence, rather than later.
    3. Section headings should be in sentence case rather than title case (cf. wp:MOS:SECTIONS).

Once the content matters are sorted out, I am happy to help with the rest. --Daniel Mietchen (talk) 20:10, 24 November 2015 (PST)
