Excellent point. It is in fact true that life as we know it are composed of the same atoms that compose the rest of the universe - except for the fact that by chance or sheer dumb luck, there were other factors at play for us to become what we are now. Organisms do not leap from hosting planets onto a carrier and for "cells" to reach earth will take longer than two days depending on their origins.

Did the 1976 Viking's Mission to Mars prove that there was life in the soil?[edit source]

The 1976 Viking's Mission to Mars conducted a labelled release experiment and found that in Mars, microbial life was present. These experiments displayed circadian rhythms, The release of Carbon Dioxide which is usually released by live organisms while the experiments were taking place may indicate a robust biological response. Three experiments support the interpretation that the Viking LR experiment did detect microbial life from the soil.
