Pronunciation of "a"[edit source]

Hi @Soumya-8974: thanks for the explanation of your change of "sat" to "father". ("The <a> on "sat" spells /æ/, not /a/ or /a:/.") However I am not sure father is right, either.

Wiktionary gives /ˈfɑː.ðə(ɹ)/ or US /ˈfɑ.ðɚ/ ; we are after /ˈa.moː/ – I am not convinced this sound is really found in English. It may be better to say so, rather than giving approximate but not fully representative examples, especially as the guide has audio. Thoughts appreciated. Bug ?[edit source]

The same recordings seem to have been used for both pronounciations. Maybe I didn't understand something, but why have two columns when they both contain the same sounds ? JB. --92.195.92.245 (discuss) 23:15, 2 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
