In my oppinion, a simple text editor is best for learning. If you have one that predicts what you'll be writing all the time, then it'll take longer to get a good grip on the syntax. It's like the automatic spelling controll in MS Word, when it changes missspelled words, you don't need to think about spelling and then you won't learn the words you spell wrong.
