Talk:Heresy and the Church in the Mediterranean world

I created this resource out of my discovery of a removal, by a single editor cross-wiki, of bibliographic references on the topic, by a certain author, academically published, plus global locks of alleged "socks" of the author. It is particularly ironic because the topic here, and the expertise of the author, is about historical heresy and censorship and repression.

Often we imagine that censorship and repression are things of the past, surely we would not do this today, with our enlightened understandings of democracy and freedom.

But Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. (George Santayana).

The Inquisition had its reasons, and we have our reasons today.

These book references were removed because the editor removing them believes they were "spammed," that additions were "self-promotion."

Whether that is true or false is irrelevant here. The books (and the web site, ereticopedia.org, globally blacklisted by the same editor), are useful educationally, that is clear.

They may also be useful as reliable source for encyclopedia articles, but that is, again, not our concern here, except that, as student exercises, we may criticize Wikipedia articles or create alternate drafts. Wikiversity has been used to study fields and, out of that study, create draft encyclopedia articles, then ported to en.wikipedia.

These articles should normally be in subspace, not in mainspace, Wikiversity is not primarily for "articles," but for educational resources and learning by doing. --Abd (discusscontribs) 15:24, 11 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
