Improve Context[edit source]

It would be nice if this article were put into better context. When I read it, I feel as though I should have read something that comes just before this, but there is no clear reference to whatever it is I'm missing. --Jimmytharpe 17:54, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is one page of an experiment...[edit source]

As far as I know, Wikiversity does not allow for dynamic pages created by instructors as part of a lesson or quiz.

Therefore, this page was part of an experiment in branching to create a custom-built storyboard. The storyboard had 12 levels (12 pieces of dialog.) Each choice had an average of two possible answers (many more at the beginning). Rather than dynamically calculate the items for each page, I tried to create all the pages.

This proved impractical. When I started, I obviously did not have my thinking cap on. 12 levels with two options each is 2 to the 12 power which is about 4,000 pages. I stopped after a dozen pages.

To try this out, I created the pages for when the answer to the question was picture "A". Hence the names of the page "aaaab". Obviously, the previous page is "aaaa". So on up the chain.

It is impractical to complete this (the 4,000 pages). Therefore, I must find a way to use a database of pictures and to develop a way of calling the pictures depending on the level that I am at. If anyone knows a way to access MySQL directly from the Wiki language, let me know. Robert Elliott 00:01, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
