Questionable addition without a reference[edit source]

On 2022-02-18T04:53 user:2607:fea8:c260:d900:786a:8f5b:e084:462 added the following right before the table labeled "Polity Score ranges from -10 to +10":

The Polity IV data series has been criticized for its methodology, Americentrism, and its funding ties to the CIA. Seva Gunitsky, an assistant professor at the University of Toronto, stated that the data series was appropriate "for research that examines constraints on governing elites, but not for studying the expansion of suffrage over the nineteenth century."

This seems irrelevant to the work of Chenoweth and Stephan discussed here, because the Chenoweth and Stephan analysis has been essentially restricted to violent and nonviolent conflict since 1900 and does not discuss suffrage over the nineteenth century.

Moreover, no citation is given. If someone cares to provide a reference, it would be easier to evaluate its relevance to the present discussion. Without a reference, I feel it appropriate to revert this addition. Thanks, DavidMCEddy (discusscontribs) 05:11, 18 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
