Talk:BMI, Puberty, and Mood

Three things that could be next steps:

(a) Search for Wikipedia pages on related topics, and add links to those (puberty, estrogen, testosterone, Tanner staging, Petersen….)

(b) Add pictures – easiest way might be to search Wikimedia for pictures that are already cleared for copyright. Old art (Venus de Milo, Venus of Willendorf, Goya’s Maya Desropa) are examples of things that should be discoverable that would add visual interest to the page and make the point that cultural attitudes have changes

(c) Run by Dr. Sarah Black (cc’ed) and she can make suggestions

All, the content of the page is interesting! My overall comment would be that there isn’t a clear message of puberty  something mood related. Perhaps make a heading with the direct puberty to mood research? Then talking about the perception of pubertal timing as another important factor will be more meaningful. Also, some of the language around the causal relationship between BMI/puberty and mood is a little strong (e.g., “strong determinate,” “much of the psychosocial dysfunction…is likely due to body dissatisfaction,” etc.). I’d also recommend adding citations in text, rather than just in the headings.
Thanks for including me!
