This Portal/Faculty should be deleted.[edit source]
These topics should be dealt with in School:Computer Science. There is no need for a Faculty/Portal:Computer Science as there is already enough debate over how to handle Computer Science/Computer Engineering. In most universities, Faculties are broad divisions that deal with graduation requirements/scheduling, such as Arts, Science, Fine Arts, Engineering, Medicine, Law. Computer Science falls under the faculty of Science at most institutions, although there is often course overlap with engineering. Recommend that this portal be redirected to School:Computer Science. -Freeman 23:20, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
- The portal and the school are two different things. Portals are to quickly connect content browsers with learning resources in the subject area. Wikiversity schools are content development projects where editors collaborate to develop and improve learning resources. --JWSchmidt 00:25, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
- Maybe merge them. The outline on the computer science portal is very well done, but it seems like it should be under a section in the computer science portal called something like "Degree Organization" or "Course Organization". I agree, with Freeman. The portal even says, "Welcome to Wikiversity's School of Computer Science! This school focuses..." --Remi0o 08:57, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
The first line of the portal page is: "The material on this page was imported from "School of Computer Science" at Wikibooks. Please coordinate this page with School:Computer Science." <-- This means that the page needs to be edited to be a portal and some of the content may be more appropriate at School:Computer Science. Two different school pages were started independently, one at Wikibooks and one here. (example of a portal page at Wikipedia, example of a content development project at Wikipedia). New format[edit source]
I'm going to convert this portal to the format used by Portal:Life Sciences and other major Wikiversity portals. I'll copy the current contents of the portal, but also make the Sandbox Server (Topic:Sandbox Server 0.5) the "featured content". --JWSchmidt 06:55, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
