Traditionally, Manchu language is written in Manchu script which was borrowed and redesigned from Mongolian script. It looks like Arabic script but shows every consonant and vowel and is written vertically. However, due to technical restriction, most webpages use its Latin transliteration, such as Möllendorff or Abkai transliteration. Wikimedia has been able to support vertical Manchu script, and in Wikiversity, both Manchu script and Latin transliteration are introduced so that learners have the freedom to choose which to use.
