Pomiculture is the art and science of growing apples, an occupation that combines both ancient knowledge and cutting-edge agricultural science.

This topic page is intended as an organizational tool for several resources we can develop relating to this subject.

Resources[edit | edit source]

  • Apples -- a Wikibook (currently in stub stage) cataloging all of the extant cultivars of apples. There are hundreds, if not thousands of these today, though many varieties have disappeared as many orchards have become large commercial ventures growing only the most common apples.
  • Graft Compatibility of Apples -- a possible research project to test graft compatibility between modern rootstocks and cultivar scions.
  • Bloom Clock/Apples -- an extension of the bloom clock reporting bloom times of various apple cultivars: data may suggest new pollination pairings.
  • Invertebrate Clock/Apples -- an extension of the invertebrate clock for tracking apple pests and matching phenological cues.
  • Cookbook:Apple -- for collection of apple recipes.
