Setting: Parents‘ Evening

How could you as a teacher who wants to use digital media in education convince the own colleagues and the parents of the children?

• Using digital media in the classroom will let learners become comfortable with digital media. Because of the impact of globalisation on all careers, the learners of today should be able to work with technology to prepare them for their future careers.

• There should still be a balance when bringing digital media into the classroom. Digital media cannot replace a teacher.

• Digital media can be a big advantage in a classroom. Using digital media in the classroom through educational games can help the learners to understand concepts they previously struggled to understand. All learners learn on different ways, digital media can help to cater for all learners on the same time.

• Learners spend an alarming amount of time on digital media, so if we can get some of that time to be focused on education without taking them out of their comfort zones it will really enhance the quality of education and will also extend learning to beyond the classroom.

• Digital media also helps the learners to stay informed about current world trends and therefore the teacher is not the only source of information.

• Having digital media in the classroom also helps to capture learners' attention making the content more meaningful and relevant to their own lives which conventional paper-based textbooks does not take into consideration.
