Autism Speaks Threatens To Sue Autistic Girl For Speaking Out[edit | edit source]

Autism Speaks, a US charity that funds research into causes and potential cures for autism, and which purports to speak for 'those who cannot speak for themselves', threatened to sue 14-year-old Kelly for running a parody website called NTs Speak([1]). After learning her age, they dropped the threat, but continued to strong-arm her until she gave them the domain name and destroyed the site's code. Gareth Nelson, who runs the pro-Neurodiversity website Aspies For Freedom put up a new version of the parody site out of protest. Read more
