A meta description is a meta tag on a web page that describes what the page is about. Meta descriptions are visible on search engine results pages. Meta descriptions are not keyword sensitive but they can entires users to click on your result on search engines.

If you want to craft a great meta description make sure to do the following

  • Describe the page accurately
  • Include a call-to-action
  • Keep your meta description under the recommended length

Search engines have changed where they begin to truncate meta descriptions many times. As of May 2020, it is recommended that they be no longer than 200 characters.
