VIB'IA. The cross-bar or plank laid across the forked uprights (varae) which form a jack or trestle for mechanics to stand or work upon; whence the adage, Vibia varam sequitur (Auson. Idyll. 12.), the plank falls with its props, is interpreted to mean "One error follows another."
