TRISPAS'TOS (τρίσπαστος). A mechanical contrivance employed for the purpose of raising heavy weights, consisting of three pullies (orbiculi) set in a single frame or case (trochlea) in the manner exhibited by the annexed figure (Trispastos/1.1), which represents a similar machine still in common use at the present day.
