TRI'FAX. A missile of four and a half cubits long, which was discharged from the catapulta (Festus, s. v. Ennius ap. Fest. l. c. Aul. Gell. x. 25. 1.); probably a sort of spear, so denominated from having three barbs, as in the example (Trifax/1.1), which is copied from the column of Trajan.
