SUPERCIL'IUM. The lintel of a doorcase (Vitruv. iv. 6. 2. and 4.), which stretches from the top of one doorpost (postis) to the other, and over the doorway, like an eyebrow over the eye. The example (Supercilium/1.1) represents a stone doorway to one of the houses at Pompeii.
