PERO (ἀρβύλη). A boot reaching up to the calf of the leg, laced in front and made of raw hide, or untanned leather, with the fur on. (Virg. Aen. vii. 690. Juv. xiv. 186. Isidor. Orig. xix. 34.) The example (Pero/1.1) is from a Pompeian painting.
