IGNISPIC'IUM. A branch of the art of divination, which consisted in foretelling the secrets of futurity by the inspection of ignited matter. (Plin. H. N. vii. 57.) Compare Sen. Oed. 306 — 330., where the various appearances of the flames, and the results supposed to be indicated by them, are set out at length.
