HARPA. A harp, with a curved back in the form of a sickle (ἅρπη, falx), like the annexed example (Harpa/1.1), from an Egyptian painting. Venant. Carm. vii. 8. 63., in which passage it is expressly distinguished from the lyre, and as an instrument used by foreigners.
