CAP'RIPES. Goat-footed; a form commonly attributed by poets and painters to Pan and the Satyrs, in order to indicate their libidinous and dissolute propensities. (Lucret. iv. 583. Hor. Od. ii. 19. 4.) The illustration (Capripes/1.1) is taken from a Pompeian painting.
