APOPHORE'TA (ἀποφόρητα). Presents which a host gave to his guests at the conclusion of an entertainment, to be carried home with them. Compliments of this kind were more especially customary during the fête of the Saturnalia. Suet. Cal. 55. Id. Vesp. 19.
