The Spanish Society of Maritime Medicine (SEMM) was founded in 1989. The main objectives of this non profit scientific society are continuing education and to improve research on Maritime Health. That's to say, to look basically into fishermen and merchant seafarers medical attendance and prevention on board and ashore and besides other subjects related to Maritime Medicine such as travel medicine, telemedicine, international relations, diving medicine and so on. The scientific journal was founded in 1995 and has since then publised original scientific articles, papers for continued education, editorials, etc. All of the publicaitons constitute an invaluable source of knowledge for the emerging activity of maritime health reasearch and training in Latin America.
