The functions hyperbolic sine and hyperbolic cosine have the following properties.

${}\cosh x+\sinh x=e^{x}\,.$
${}\cosh x-\sinh x=e^{-x}\,.$
${}(\cosh x)^{2}-(\sinh x)^{2}=1\,.$
