Topic learning outcome

1. Use previous understanding of cone cell morphology, to describe, with diagrams:

  • The relationship between cone cell diameter, visual angle and size of optotypes (letters)
  • Snellen’s fraction as an example of the statement above

2. Use experimental evidence to demonstrate the required distance of optotypes from the subject being measured and describe and record visual acuity measurements
3. Use previous understanding of perception of colour to describe design characteristics of colour vision measurements
4. Use experimental evidence to demonstrate the performance of colour vision measurements
5. Use experimental evidence to demonstrate physiological diplopia
6. Use diagrams to review the physical properties of light and to describe polarisation.
