Background[edit | edit source]

Even after the failure of the Seventh Crusade, Louis IX was unwilling to give up on his dreams of crusading. The Eighth Crusade was launched in 1270.

Events of the Crusade[edit | edit source]

The first target of the crusade was Tunis which was envisioned to be a short stopping point for the crusade. However, Louis died from sickness while at Tunis and the crusade ended.[1]
